Who we are, or Who are we is a web site dedicated to improving our understanding on spirituality. The original articles were written in Indonesian language. At the moment, some have been translated into English for your ease of reading. As the translation of the articles may take some time to accomplish, therefore I shall publish them partially to enable you to read some of them. Introduction
Have we ever asked ourselves: “Who are we?”. Since the early existence of mankind, this has been one of the numerous important questions asked concerning the presence of our being ness in this beautiful planet, earth. In the ancient time during the early civilizations (4000 years BCE), people tried to get the answer through observations in the nature and its surrounding including: minerals, plants, animals, climate changes, and the human, or some people even tried to get the answer through self-contemplation. Then, hundreds of years later through the developments of human’s civilizations (still within 4000 years BCE), in some parts of the world, a few people who reached their higher awareness began to teach other people some mystical things as a way of conducting their behaviour in daily life. Nowadays, in the wake of human awareness, thousands, tens of thousands or may be millions of people have been asking similar question again. Let’s study the following passage:
True Spirituality
The Master is being asked: ”What is Spirituality?”
His answer: “The true Spirituality is a spirituality that can successfully make people do the hearty changes.”
“But if I use the old method that has been inherited by the previous Master, is it not also spirituality?”
“It is not spirituality if it does not function to change yourself. Blanket is not a blanket anymore if it cannot warm your body.”
“So Spirituality changes?”
“Human changes, so does his needs. What previously was known as spirituality, one day it will not be spirituality anymore. What is said as spirituality is no other than several methods from the old days.”
The answer to the question “Who are we?” can be vary from person to person. May be the answer to it is: “We are human”, of course this answer is short, correct and direct to the point. But, if this is evaluated further, there will be various versions that point to the knowledge background of the person who answers it, who may come from different: education, family environment, community or even country. There are people who answer: “We are human created by God and as human, we have original sin.” Some may also answer: “We are human being created by God equipped with: body, mind and soul.” Some may likely answer: “We are nothing.” But, there are few who will answer: “We are spiritual being in physical human body form created by God, yet our being ness comprises of soul and spirit with mission on earth.”
Of course if we see from certain point of view, those various answers have almost similar understanding, but it will actually influence someone’s thinking pattern and this can sometimes make a person become extreme or may even become very narrow minded.
